Shoot point blank membership3/20/2023 Within about a month of my leaving, the manager and all the good people jumped ship leaving the mouth breathers as the senior employees and most of the good ones went to other nearby shops and ranges. I was leaving soon anyway due to the nearing arrival of my son, but chose to cut and run a little early as it was changing for the worse. Then Corpo changed a bunch of policies (fyi the founder is admittedly "not a gun guy", and it shows) and it started going down hill rapidly. The first 8 months or so weren't bad, the store manager was a really good dude and most of the employees were solid guys (and a few gals) that actually knew their shit pretty well and were genuinely fun to be around. ![]() ![]() I worked at one for about a year as a side gig mostly (ok, pretty much solely) for the discount. Her hours are crazy since she can't find anyone worth a damn to work or consistently. I also have a brand new little one at home and the wife works in the restaurant industry as a GM. Might be great for some but I prefer to start my day early and end it early. Hours kinda suck 10am - 6pm once they open for first shift. Medical, dental, vision added on top of pay instead of taken from it. The base pay is laughable, but the additional benefits seem nice on the surface. Just looking for some insight to those who have might have worked there before. So handling firearms is second nature to me. I'm prior military, infantry, been to Iraq. Had to correct one as we unloaded firearms from their boxes and I noticed a muzzle towards my face. Some do not have a very strong sense of firearms safety. ![]() I'm not the only new guy which is nice, but almost all of them seem like barely legal kids excited to work in a gun store. Spent most of the day building shelves, while contractors worked around us. Maybe I'm just a bit jaded working in retail again after leaving the motorcycle industry 3 years ago. So I'm currently "hired" first day was today at a brand new store opening in 3 weeks.
